On 22 May 2017 a tragedy struck. The Manchester Arena was attacked by a bomber wherein twenty-three people were killed, including the attacker, and over 500 were injured. The artist they all went to see was Ariana Grande.
When the dust settled, Ariana promised to return to Manchester to perform her concert, only this time she would be accompanied by a whole host of stars who wanted to stand in solidarity with the people of Manchester, and so was born the “We Are Manchester” concert.
During the vigils that were held around Manchester for the victims, an slinkily anthem spontaneously erupted, the Oasis classic, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”.
The We Are Manchester concert was held on 9th September. One of the artists performing was Miley Cyrus, who sung her new song, “Inspired”.
The song spoke to me, so I decided to turn it into a choral piece.
I took three songs, “Inspired”, “Don’t Look Back In Anger” and the Ariana Grande hit that was in the charts at the time, “One Last Time” and created an SATB choral song in support of the We Are Manchester campaign.
