Friday 21 March 2014 saw the official launch of Preston’s “Standing Together Against Racism” festival with a community choir event at County Hall. Pupils from Preston High Schools were there to make sure proceedings began in fine style.

As part of the three day festival, the County Council’s “Young People’s Service” brought together secondary schools from across Preston to participate in a mass choir to show their commitment to community cohesion and creating a safer Preston where racism is not tolerated.

The schools sang a number of songs which reflected the themes of the festival in front of an invited audience, including County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson who is the Cabinet Member for Young People.

All of the pupils sang with passion and a real sense of harmony was conveyed through their united voices.

This was to become an annual event and lasted 4 years.
